Most memorable experience working with PU:
  • There are countless. From roaming through night market for 2 nights not realizing that I had not taken a washroom break, to sitting in another member's basement sewing over 50 Power Unit logos by hand as Christmas presents to our team members may begin to portray the passion we have for our team, as well as for our cause.

Most Memorable Experience Working with PU:
  • There were many of them, but staying up late making the open ceremony ribbon for 30 VIP's tops the list. The amount of things we make from scratch ourselves instead of buying could be surprising to outsiders.

Name: Christy Luo
Position: Marketing/Public Relations Director
Education and/or Occupation: Graduating Student at the University of Waterloo
Years of Involvement with PU: 3
Most Memorable Experience Working with PU:
  • Approximately 8 hours of directly under the incandescent stage light at Toronto Night Market 2006 being drenched in my own perspiration induced by the said lighting, frantically savaging what's left of my voice, makeup and sanity, not having seen a single performance even though having introduced all the performers, a new-found utter respect for other MCs who habitually undergo this distress, and the perverse wanting to submit myself to this soon again.
What You Wish to Accomplish for PU This Year:
  • To deliver a set of functions that will foster our ability to strategically listen to, appreciate, and respond to those people whose mutually beneficial relationships with PU are necessary to achieve our missions and values
  • To enforce internal principles of organizational governance, such that our transparency, accuracy and accountability are on route in becoming on par with other prominent non-profit organizations
  • To engage in mentorship of future-generation PU members and to take genuine interest in their skills development

Name: Frankie Hung
Position: Communications Director
Education and/or Occupation: Design Student
Years of Involvement with PU: 2
Most Memorable Experience Working with PU:
  • The first time I saw my ad published in a newspaper. I had done ads for school previously, but they were school projects, nothing got published. I thank Power Unit for providing me with an avenue to showcase my work.

  • Simply bringing joy & spirits to our team.

Years of Involvement with PU: 3
Most Memorable Experience Working with PU:
  • It's very difficult to pick a single "most memorable" experience. With so many invaluable experiences along the way and each are memorable on their own. If you've ever been picking up garbage manually until 4am yet still cannot wait for it again, you may understand.
What You Wish to Accomplish for PU This Year:
  • To cooperate with the E3 team and produce the most successful and exciting E3 Challenge in the year 2008.

Past Presidents
Name: Jimmy Yin
Years of Involvement with PU: 7
Most memorable experience working with PU:
  • It was the first year of the Night Market. The team and I worked around the clock for months, and we didn't know what to expect as it was a new concept and has never been done before in the GTA. It was a big gamble for a bunch of university freshmen to take on a project of this scale. In fact, we only expected a few people hundred to show up - if we were lucky. Turned out we were wrong. THOUSANDS of people showed up on the first night and also the next. I was in shock and awe as more and more patrons poured into the event, literally turning an uninteresting parking lot into a bustling haven for street food, cheap buys, and great entertainment. My heart leaped for joy for it was truly amazing to see with your own eyes the fruits of your team's own hard work, perseverance, and dedication right before you.

Name: Anita Ko
Years of Involvement with PU: 6+
Most memorable experience working with PU:
  • In 2002, when I was overwhelmed by the first sighting of the sea of visitors trotting through, wondering "how did we reached so many people?!" To date, I'm still very proud that we can prove that much can be accomplished when we have a group of dedicated individuals.

Name: Ling Chung
Years of Involvement with PU: 6
Most memorable experience working with PU:
  • There are simply too many heartfelt memories. The coherence of PU members and the relationships we built is paramount. The friendships, exhibited by trust, reliance, and countless laughers top my list. The "cake-baking incident" is unforgettable, one of numerous accounts of pushing boundaries and remaining excellent friends.

Name: Urban Lee
Years of Involvement with PU: 4
Most memorable experience working with PU:
  • It was the sweet feeling of achievement on the opening night of Toronto Night Market 2006. The feeling was exponentially greater because it was shared with our PU members. We all hugged and embraced the special moment. No words were exchanged; just a glance, a hug, and a smile. We did it!
