About

Power Unit is an affiliate youth committee under The Dove Intercultural Society in Canada. The main purpose of the Power Unit is to provide an opportunity for Asian-Canadian youths to increase their involvement in mainstream Canadian society and also enhance their leadership skills. This will be achieved by allowing youths to obtain practical experience in organizational management. The group is basically a self-managed committee in which we work together to develop various projects to act as a simulation for our leadership training. Through self-management we are fostering creativity and encouraging the exchange of ideas through which members can work together to achieve the objective of the program. These current members will then be exposed to experiences in leadership and thus will lead and assist new members in developing their leadership qualities. The Dove Society acts as a facilitator for the group by providing guidance and support.
"To foster leadership amongst today's Asian-Canadian youth and promote them to become political, business, and community leaders of tomorrow within the Canadian mainstream society."
About The Dove Intercultural Society
The Dove Society is a non-profit, non-political, and non-religious organization dedicated to facilitate new immigrants from Asia to adapt into mainstream Canadian life. Many immigrants arrive in Canada feeling isolated from the community and it is often hard for them to integrate into mainstream Canadian society due to various cultural and language barriers. The Dove Society was established mainly to help new immigrants overcome these obstacles by creating a dynamic environment through which they can strive to be successful in Canada. It is Dove Society's goal to shift the attitudes of new immigrants from a feeling of loneliness to a feeling of belongingness. The Dove Society serves as a medium through which new immigrants can access resources and develop networks enabling them to overcome obstacles by offering an opportunity for a better life for them and their children.
"To help new immigrants intergrades and succeed in mainstream society by providing education, resources, and networks that fosters a mutual understanding between the Asian and mainstream communities."
