We believe that leadership cannot be taught, but must be learned and experienced through practical hands-on experience within our communities. Members of Power Unit are rigorously engaged with various real-world charitable projects throughout the year, constantly putting themselves to the challenge and testing their limits. With a unique culture fostering creativity, passion, and community, Power Unit hopes not to only turn our members to better leaders, but also better people for tomorrow's society.

The Lunar New Year period is a precious time when families and friends gather together to look back upon the success of last year, as well as anticipate the start of a new year. On Sunday, February 10th, 2008, Power Unit in partnership with Councellor Shelly Carol, will host a Lunar New Year celebration at the Pleasentview Community Center (545 Van Horne Ave). The event will run from 1:00 p.m. till 4:00 p.m. and will be filled with game booths suitable for children along with informational booths for the parents and community members.

A successful attraction from last year, the "Wishing Tree", will make its special return!

This year, an exciting Fashion Show is going to showcase articles of traditional Chinese clothing, illustrating the poise, elegance and history behind each outfit. There will also be various Asian culture performances such as: martial arts demonstrations, cultural dances, singing and other sensational entertainment segments.

Happy Lunar New Year!

From all the members of Power Unit.

Formerly known as Asian Night Market, this two-day celebration of Asian food, music, and culture is a confluence of youth spirit and social responsibility. As much as Toronto Night Market is known for its exciting atmosphere, electrifying crowd, spectacular stage line-up, and unique foods, its mission is to raise money for a beneficiary.

The process of selecting a beneficiary each year is long and arduous, as the Toronto Night Market committee aims to help organizations that are small and in desperate need of funding. Getting to know its beneficiary through volunteer days is part of the process of putting together Toronto Night Market. The forty-odd core members of the committee are all under 26 and tirelessly donate their time, energy and creativity to a charitable cause. Community support has been crucial to the event's success: Markham's Metro Square Plaza has generously provided a venue for the event over the past 5 years.

The E3 Challenge was created to fulfill Power Unit's mission of promoting entrepreneurship, empowerment, and excellence in youth. A business competition with an emphasis on teamwork and leadership skills, The E3 Challenge is modeled upon The Apprentice reality show, and consists of three tasks in which teams compete against each other.

A support system of mentors, workshops and seminars makes this competition a learning experience for 16 to 20-year-olds. Participants engage in hands-on experiences such as direct sales and promotions, as well as presenting marketing plans before company executives and creating their own product proposal. The winning team is awarded a scholarship, but all participants gain invaluable experience in cooperation, management, budgeting, and creative thinking.
